Week one of project simply: kids stuff. Here's some photos of spot number 1, this is to the right of our front door so I really wanted to tackle it. I can't stand coming home to a pile of little toys cluttering the doorway.
Toys on top, in coming and out going mail, phone, other on top and....
...random toys inside.
Before
The toys are ready to be sorted
Levi, was not sure about this. He didn't want his picture taken, he didn't want to give anything away, they were all special. The truth is Levi is more organized then me and thrives in a clean and organized house (we all do I suppose but I pretend the stuff and clutter is artistic and not disorganized and messy).
He did a great job sorting. I kept him focused on sorting instead of getting rid of anything, this worked and once it was sorted it didn't feel like there was as much.
The final sort, not so bad, in fact it all it on the bottom shelf when done.
But in the end I decided I don't want these toys in the living room. So I gathered all the puzzles and games from the various places and put them here. I love it.
After
Kid space #2 Levi's room.
Levi's room is situated at the top of our first floor stairs. We have no doors or doorways on the second floor so anyone walking to our bathroom sees his room.
This is the view as you are walking upstairs to our bedrooms and bathroom. Look at the awful bookshelf. it fits perfectly in that corner but Levi can only reach the first few shelves and very few books can fit on it leaving a heap of books next to his bed and on the floor surrounding the shelf.
Before
Bookshelf area after
Dinosaurs under the bed and other random treasures.
Before
After-really the box is much fuller but at least it contains dinosaurs only and the toys that go with them.

After gathering all his dinos from the living room, his room, the car, etc, HE decided to share some of some!
The toy shelf before was half empty, after removing puzzles and games so all the toys that were in the living room could go in their proper bin in his room!
Before
After
Along the wall is a train bin, empty bin, and overstuffed stuffed animal bin, a box, and an empty hamper.
Before
The hamper got put in its spot, the box got recycled, the stuffed animals found a new home on the wall next to the books, the pillow pet helped create a little book nook there too, the empty basket moved to the living room to keep books there, and the stuffed animal bin became the car and race track bin! Look at all this space!
Nightstand
Before
Under the night stand was a basket of puzzles...this got moved to the living room cabinet. There was also a tape player and books on tape piled there and they are now on the book shelf!
After
The bookshelf was not previously in his room but in our living room, it held, junk, crafts stuff, returns, mail, etc.....basically a junk drawer in the form of a shelf. Anywho, everything on it is finding a new home in the weeks to come...stay tuned!
